Testpunkts is run by the LGBTQ+ community, for the LGBTQ+ community. The staff understand the specific context of gay and bisexual men's sexual health — they won't make you feel judged, and you don't need to explain yourself.
What they test:
- Rapid HIV test (results in 20–30 minutes)
- Rapid syphilis test
- Hepatitis C
- Counselling included
Cost: Free. Anonymity: No insurance card, no name required.
What Testpunkts Doesn't Cover
Testpunkts focuses on blood-borne rapid testing. For a complete STI screen including throat, rectal, and urethral swabs (essential for catching chlamydia and gonorrhoea), you'll need to go to LIC or a private clinic. Use Testpunkts for your HIV and syphilis baseline; supplement with LIC or Gulbja Laboratorija for swabs.
The routine: Many gay and bisexual men in Riga combine quarterly Testpunkts visits for HIV/syphilis with periodic LIC visits for full panels, especially after higher-risk periods.
Mozaika: More Than Testing
Mozaika (mozaika.lv) is Latvia's main LGBTQ+ organisation. Beyond Testpunkts, they provide:
- Community events and social connection
- Legal support and rights advocacy
- Referrals to affirming healthcare providers
- Support for people navigating HIV diagnoses or LGBTQ+-related healthcare

Frequency
Every 3 months for HIV and syphilis if you're sexually active with multiple partners. After a higher-risk period, don't wait — come in sooner. Testpunkts is designed for regular attendees.
