The main challenge is geographical: services are concentrated in Tallinn, with Tartu and Linda Kliinik in Narva covering the rest of the country. Smaller towns rely on GP referrals and private labs.
The Three Golden Rules
1. Know Your Digilugu
Estonia's digital health record system is one of the best in Europe. Get set up on digilugu.ee with your ID card or Mobile-ID before you need it. Every test result, prescription, and referral will appear there. Digital prescriptions can be filled at any apteek in the country.
2. The Infektsionist Is Your Key Person
Your GP (perearst) handles general health. For PrEP, HIV care, and complex STI management, you need an infektsionist (infectious disease doctor). The Nakkuskliinik at Paldiski mnt 62 is the primary hub. Book directly or get a GP referral.
3. The Kabinet Option
The Nakkuskliinik has an anonymous testing kabinet — you can test for HIV without registering your name. This exists for a reason. If you need anonymity, use it.
