Vaccination for key sexual health concerns is a mix of state-provided coverage and out-of-pocket expenses, depending on the vaccine and your age.
🦠 Hepatitis A & B
Hepatitis B vaccination is part of the routine childhood immunization schedule in Ukraine.
If you are an adult and have not been vaccinated:
- Cost: You will generally need to purchase the vaccine yourself at a pharmacy (using a prescription from a doctor) or at a private vaccination clinic.
- Where to go: Your family doctor (сімейний лікар) can issue a prescription, or you can book an appointment at a private clinic, which will provide both the consultation and the vaccine.
Pharmacies have strict cold-chain requirements. If you buy the vaccine yourself, you must transport it to the clinic in a thermal bag with an ice pack, usually within two hours of purchase.
💉 HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
The HPV vaccine is not currently included in the mandatory state vaccination schedule.
- Availability: It is available commercially at private clinics and pharmacies.
- Cost: You must pay out of pocket. It is relatively expensive, and the full course requires multiple doses.
🐒 Mpox (Monkeypox)
Mpox vaccination campaigns in Ukraine have been extremely limited compared to Western Europe.
- Availability: Mass vaccination for gay and bisexual men is not a standard offering. The state has previously received small batches of the vaccine for targeted high-risk use.
- Action: If you believe you are at high risk or require a vaccine post-exposure, contact community NGOs (like Alliance Global) for the most up-to-date guidance on any available stock or clinical trials.
