Because Luxembourg is geographically small, the vast majority of specialized sexual health services—especially PrEP and PEP—are centralized at the CHL in Luxembourg City. However, there are still testing options available if you are in the North or the South (Esch-sur-Alzette).
🚐 DIMPS Mobile Testing
The DIMPS (Dispositif d’Intervention Mobile pour la Promotion de la Santé Sexuelle) is a mobile health unit managed by the Red Cross. It travels across the country, visiting smaller towns, university campuses, and nightlife spots.
- Services: Free, anonymous rapid testing for HIV, Hepatitis C, and syphilis.
- Schedule: The van's location changes weekly. You can check their current schedule at dimps.lu.
🏥 Hospitals in the South and North
If you live outside the capital and need a full STI screening (including throat and anal swabs), you can visit a local general practitioner or a regional hospital's specialized outpatient service, provided you have CNS coverage.
- Esch-sur-Alzette (South): Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM).
- Ettelbruck (North): Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN).
If you need emergency PEP, do not rely on regional hospitals. They may not have the specialized HIV medications in stock or the specialists to prescribe them. Always travel to the CHL Unit 20 in Luxembourg City for PEP.
