HIV self-tests are legally approved and widely available across Czechia.

  • Availability: Major online pharmacies (Dr. Max, Lékárna.cz) and physical health retailers. Common brands include INSTI HIV Samotest and Meril HIV FIND Sebetest.
  • Cost: Typically 390 CZK to 600 CZK.

The 12-Week Window: These rapid tests detect antibodies that typically develop up to 3 months after potential exposure. For recent exposures, visit a professional clinic instead.

For postal kits, the laboratory typically provides results via a secure online portal, SMS, or email within a few days of receiving your sample. Instant pharmacy self-tests give results in 15 to 20 minutes.

  • If your result is negative: Continue your regular testing routine. Remember the window periods — a negative test today reflects your status from weeks or months ago.
  • If your result is positive or reactive: Do not panic. A reactive home test is a preliminary result and must be confirmed by a venous blood draw at a clinic. Visit a Czech AIDS Help Society (ČSAP) center or an infectious disease clinic to arrange a confirmatory lab test.
