Finland's public health system covers several crucial sexual health vaccines for gay and bisexual men completely free of charge. However, there is one major gap in the public coverage that you will have to pay for yourself.

💉 The Free Vaccine Stack

If you are a man who has sex with men, you are entitled to the following vaccines for free via your local health station (terveysasema) or specialist clinic.

VaccineWhat it preventsCostDoses
Hepatitis ALiver infection (rimming risk)Free2
Hepatitis BLiver infection (fluid risk)Free3
Mpox (Jynneos)Mpox lesions and scarringFree2

How to get them:

You can request Hepatitis A/B vaccination directly from your terveysasema or during an appointment at the sukupuolitautien poliklinikka. Hivpoint also frequently runs vaccination campaigns and can administer them on-site.

Mpox vaccine stock fluctuates. The most reliable way to secure an Mpox vaccine is to check Hivpoint's website for their current campaign status or book a dedicated vaccination slot via the Maisa digital portal if you live in the HUS (Helsinki) region.

💳 The Paid Reality: HPV

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine prevents anal and throat cancer, as well as genital warts. Finland provides the HPV vaccine for free to school-aged children, but it is not publicly funded for adult gay men.

If you want the HPV vaccine (and you should, as it is the only vaccine that prevents cancer), you must go through the private sector.

The Cost: The modern vaccine (Gardasil 9) is expensive. You must pay for the vaccine itself plus the private clinic's administration fee. It typically costs around €200 per dose, and you need three doses. Expect to pay €500–€600 in total.

You can book this through private clinics like Mehiläinen, Terveystalo, or Aava.
